Memorable moments...exchanging greenstone with Guy, sitting on Kaiteriteri Beach and knowing we should live in NZ, summiting Kilimanjaro.

Happiest...harvesting my aubergines, debating around the dinner table with the family, walking in fresh powder snow, making pesto, listening to people's stories, sharing good food with good friends.

I trained in the UK (Cambridge University and St Mary's, London) and then spent 2 years in rural areas in New Zealand intending to return and take up General Practice there, but the lure of a great lifestyle in a wonderful enviroment proved too over-powering and my wife and I set up home in the Moutere and I took up practice here, almost 20 yrs ago now. Our children were born here and have attended the local schools, my eldest has moved on to University in Dunedin and the younger one attends the High School, where my wife runs the French Department.

I ran a sole practice for the first 10 years, but then was 'rescued' from this by my work partner Deborah Morris and we continue to provide a shared practice within the combined Medical Centre offering a full range of GP services between us. We also share the teaching of Registrar GPs and junior hospital doctors during their GP work experience at Greenwood Health.

As you can easily tell from my accent, I was born and raised in the Netherlands. In this rainy and flat little country I completed my GP training, as well as a specialisation in tropical medicine, which included experience in pediatrics, surgery and gynaecology. After furthering my career in the Caribbean and the jungle of Columbia, my family and I decided to look for a sunny, beautiful, peaceful though adventurous and friendly place to live. In February 2012 we were fortunate to find such a place here in Motueka; instantly we knew we had found our home. I look forward to getting to know you and working with you at Greenwood.

Dr Oliver MadiganDr Oliver Madigan

I started working at Greenwood Health in 2013 after moving to Motueka from Dunedin.

I grew up on the Otago Peninsula and graduated from the Otago School of Medicine in 2008 and became a Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners in 2015. I am interested in all areas of General Practice and previously completed a Certificate in Woman's Health and also some additional training in Child Health.  I really enjoy living in Motueka and I am passionate about providing quality health care to the people of our region.

I am proud to be part of a practice that is actively involved in the training of the next generation of doctors and that is also solely locally owned and operated. I look forward to meeting you.

Growing up in Nelson I always knew I wanted to settle in the area. After studying medicine in Dunedin and Christchurch and working for a few years in the North Island, I returned to the top of the South with my husband to pursue a career in General Practice. We now live in Motueka with our baby girl. Having particular interest in women's, adolescent and sexual/reproductive health I have completed both a Diploma in women's health (PgDipOMG) and the Doctors for Sexual Abuse Care training. I began working with Greenwood in 2015.

I grew up in North Canterbury but Motueka has lured me in and now I don't want to leave! I love to get out on my bike, or in my kayak, to explore all our local surrounds. Motueka provides the best work/lifestyle balance imaginable. I am happiest when my husband and I are out in the bush or on the water with no cell phone and a block of chocolate. I have a particular interest in Paediatrics and Women's Health, doing postgraduate study in both during 2015. I look forward to meeting you as I start my journey at Greenwood Health.

Nurse Practitioner Tina MurphyNurse Practitioner Tina Murphy

Having trained as a nurse in the UK, I came to NZ and worked in both islands for a few years. My career focused on Emergency Care, but I loved to work in primary care and general practice. Returning to the UK I embarked on furthering my career and, after completing advanced training, became a Nurse Practitioner, which I have now been for ten years. This role enables me to provide the same services to the community as a doctor. I returned to NZ two years ago with aim of settling in the Tasman District, and where better than Motueka? I am already gripped in biking, running, hiking and basically sitting and chilling in this amazing place. I look forward to being part of the community here and further enhancing the superb team at Greenwood Health as an Urgent Care Practitioner.
