Our Nursing Team
We feel that it is very important that patients get to know not only their doctor but their nurse as well. At Greenwood Health, we have experienced Practice Nurses. They are the backbone of our surgery and bring their passion, knowledge and sense of humour to provide the best of health-care for patients. They have interests in many health fields including:
- child wellness
- emergency care
- long-term conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular conditions, respiratory (asthma, COPD) and osteoporosis
- wound care
- women's health: breast care, cervical screening
- sexual health
- youth health
- mental health
- palliative care
- weight loss
- health education
Every day we have two nurses running clinics, a Response Nurse who deals with emergencies, and an Administration Nurse who helps with warfrain management and repeat prescription enquiries.
Please feel that you can ask for individual nurses when you call to make a nurse appointment.
"Having moved from working in Operating Theatres in Sydney I am thoroughly enjoying the new challenge of working in general Practice in a much smaller community. The team at Greenwood Health and the wider community have been so lovely and welcoming. And of course there is the bonus that I now live in one of the most beautiful places in the world."
"As a Practice Nurse I thoroughly enjoy being part of a team helping people to understand and manage their health needs with a community focus."
"Working in Motueka has been a lovely combination of midwifery (earlier on) and Practice Nursing. Meeting and caring for people is always interesting."
"I have been Practice Nursing for 18 years. I moved up from Dunedin five years ago to be near family and we are well settled into life in Motueka. I now have six grandchildren living nearby!"
"I love being a practise nurse in the beautiful Motueka community. Having raised a large family I am passionate about delivering friendly, efficient health care to local families."
"I love my work. Most of my career has been spent working in a community setting. I still see it as a privilege to be part of a family's or an individual's life story. The challenges continue, balanced by the joy of living in the best part of new Zealand."
"Growing up I always wanted to be a nurse or a teacher - with this job I get to do both! My favourite part of nursing is to educate and empower patients of all ages, supporting them to make great lifestyle choices that result in positive change. Outside of nursing I am a busy mum with three young sons and I run a local business with my husband."
"I graduated from Massey University in 2008 and have been a Practice Nurse at Greenwood for the past two years. I have two special interest areas - respiratory nursing and allergy/immunotherapy nursing. Fortnightly I run a Spirometry Clinic for patients with suspected COPD/asthma. I live locally and have two young children who keep me busy outside of work."
"I have been Practice Nursing for the past twelve years and prior to that I worked as a theatre nurse for nine years. I enjoy working with patients to achieve health goals and in particular, acute nursing care. I also volunteer with St John so you may see me in the surgery or out in the community."
