I grew up in Texas and went to university in Louisiana. I then worked on a farm for 6 years, taking care of animals, crops, and a large horseback riding program. I spent most of my 6 years there on a tractor or building fence!
I studied medicine at Texas’ oldest medical school in Galveston and graduated in 2009, after which I did my residency training in Family medicine at the University of Wisconsin program in Madison, WI. Prior to moving to Motueka, I spent the last 10 years practicing family medicine in a remote Texas town, including hospital and obstetric work.
My special interests in work include procedures (joint injections, skin procedures, vasectomies) and also wound care. I also enjoy helping people advocate for their own autonomy. I like using motivational interviewing to help people make positive changes in their lives. Finally, I do have additional certification in wound care.
My hobbies outside of work are myriad. Mostly, I like spending time outdoors with my family. I also play banjo, dobro, and pedal steel guitar. In my free time, I enjoy welding and repairing broken things!
